Milton Friedman is right. There is really no accountability for spending by the federal gov't. Plus, if they run out of money they just borrow more or raise taxes or both. It is frustrating for us citizens but sometimes a job needs to be done and there is no other way to get it done.
Lorna, I didn't know that but I'm not surprised. Recently my son had an automobile accident and totaled his car. He had no medical insurance. He was taken to the hospital to be checked out. We were informed his bill was $1000.00 but if we paid immediately, which we did, it would be $600. Later we got two bills totaling over $2500 for cat scans and x-rays.
Costs for medical care in this country are out of control.

To David Oliver ---
Think of this: Obamacare is 1/6 the entire U.S.budget.
It wasn't until I boned up on just who Milton Friedman was did this quote really hit home.
Ya know, I'm digging your quotes. Here's hoping that this becomes a regular feature of your blog!
